A look at the geometric design trend

A look at the geometric design trend

Shape up your space with the trend that isn’t going anywhere, geometric design. This 70s inspired look has featured in every interiors blog and glossy magazine this season and makes use of unusual shapes, patterns and bold colours.

Keen to give it a try? Whether you want to give your house a complete geometric makeover or just incorporate different bits and bobs into your existing scheme, we’re here to inspire and show you how.

1. Take it to the floor

If you want to keep your look traditional, take this throw-back trend to the floor by using accent tiles or textiles in your hallway, bathroom or living room.  Keep it simple by buying a patterned rug for your front room or try your hand at some DIY and add patterned tiles to your hallway for a fresh modern twist.

Check out these rugs from Ikea and The Rug Seller that will liven up any space.

Transform your room from above with a geometric inspired light fixture. With a wide variety of one of a kind table lamps, ceiling pendants and floor lamps on the market, you’re sure to find something that sparkles even when it’s switched off.

We love these unique light fittings from Notonthehighstreet and PAGAZZI.

4. Accessorise

Go abstract with your accessories to give your room a clean contemporary look. Try adding some funky fittings like hexagonal candle holders, wired baskets or patterned pillows for a cheap and easy room refresh.

Try some of our favourite, and inexpensive, accessories from West Elm, Anthropologie and H&M.

Not sure what to do with your old accessories? Trends come and go, so it may be worth holding onto old cushions, ornaments and furniture. Stow your old pieces in one of our secure self-storage units across London. With 7 days a week access, you can easily swap out last year’s stemware before the next summer cocktail party.

5. Make it pop

Create your own piece of geometric art with an eye popping feature wall. Go retro or mix and match different trends to put your own stamp on your space. Try this by using patterned tiles for a kitchen backsplash or colourful paints and wallpapers in your living room or bedroom.

Make your own masterpiece with our favourite wallpaper patterns from Graham & Brown and paint colours from Dulux.
