How to prepare for Black Friday

How to prepare for Black Friday

The crowd, the budget, the stress … all coming at you like high waves on Black Friday.

In this blog post we give you essential tips to help you survive one of the most hectic shopping days of the year.

1. Plan a budget

Before you even think of heading off, create a list of items you want to buy (think of future Christmas gifts!) and decide on how much you’re willing to spend on them.

Strike when the iron is hot and focus on electronics, as many of the deals on Black Friday are expected to be the best prices of the year.

For clothing and accessories, apply the 40% off rule.

2. Do your research

Start comparing and checking different stores as soon as you have an idea of what to buy.

Make sure you know the prices for each item before the sales start so you’re sure you’re getting a deal. And snap up the item you wanted to get as soon as you see a Black Friday offer.

It’s also important to know what time each store opens so you can rank the stores on your list from earliest to latest.

3. Check online

Follow retailers on social media and sign up for newsletters.

Online deals for the same product often go on sale before the doors open, so don’t forget to check online before you get to the stores.

4. Get an early start

The day itself, try to avoid peak hours – which come with big crowds, long queues – and shop early in the day or get half a day off for the best selection.

If you’ve planned a long day of shopping, make sure to wear comfortable sneakers and to pack some snacks and drinks to keep yourself fueled.

And don’t forget, you’ve planned your budget, be disciplined and stick to it.

5. Resist impulse buying

Not every deal is a good deal of course. Retailers will try to grab your attention with big labels, but be skeptical and look at the price, not at the discount.

Always remember to go for the product that works the best for you.

6. There’s always Cyber Monday

If you didn’t get the item you wanted or you’re not into the Black Friday madness, keep checking over the weekend and on Cyber Monday to see more online deals.

7. Keep your purchases safe

In case you haven’t been able to resist the crazy deals on Black Friday or Cyber Monday, do you have enough space to store all your early Christmas gifts and other purchases?

More and more people make all kinds of bargains for future occasions during the Black Friday sales. They use their storage unit as a space away from home to hide your stash of presents.
