Let the Sunshine in!

Let the Sunshine in!

As the sun starts to shine outside, most of us are banishing our coats and jumpers to the back of the wardrobe and digging out our short-sleeved tops and lighter skirts and trousers.  But why leave your home stuck in a winter mood?  It’s time to give your house a makeover too.  With yellow this season’s top colour – you can definitely let the sun shine inside! Here’s some ideas for a happy sunny home.

1. Change your curtains

Swap your thick grey curtains for something fresher to give any room a lift. Try white if your house get lots of sun as it’s a great way to reflect the sunlight, or opt for a pattern to brighten up your room.

2. Coordinate

Consider coordinating your interior to your summer curtains.  Change woollen, dark cushions and replace with something more floral and linen.  Add new sheets to your bed, or a throw to your sofa.

3. Accessorise

Small details can make a big difference so think about vases in bright colours, or pick some flowers from the garden to decorate your house.  Candles are a great idea too for creating the scent of summer indoors.

If bright colours aren’t your thing, then opt for navy blue.  Pastel colours are not so trendy anymore, so opt for a timeless colour like navy which will never go out of fashion.  And if navy blue isn’t quite you, lagoon blue is a great colour to dive into.

4. Think about the outside

But, of course – the sun’s out so let’s not forget your garden or balcony.  Time to get yourself BBQ ready and make the most of the warmer evenings and flowering garden. Get your garden furniture out of storage and think about adding new cushions or candles to make a smart and attractive social area to relax and entertain friends. Cheers!
